GBCL Governance is a consulting company that provides specialist advice on corporate governance and strategy development to organisations in the private sector, public sector, and not-for-profit organisations. The company has over twenty years’ experience in guiding companies and helping them to achieve their full potential. Dr Gerry Gallagher
Managing Director
The team is led by Dr. Gerry Gallagher. Gerry has extensive experience in consulting in corporate governance and business strategy. Gerry was educated in Castleknock College Dublin, and holds a B.Sc (mgmt.) from Trinity College, post-graduate diplomas in both Finance and in Marketing, and a first class honours Masters in Business from the Smurfit School. In 2017, he obtained a Doctor of Governance (UCD).
Gerry is a former Army Officer (Captain) with experience in operational units, Army Headquarters and a number of tours of duty on active service with the United Nations Force in Lebanon. He was also a senior instructor in the Army Diving Group. His extensive training and varied experience throughout all this time honed strong leadership skills that continues to underpin all his work.
In 1998, Gerry joined the Munster Technological University (MTU) as a lecturer in corporate strategy. He has headed up the Master of Business programme and the MBA programme in the college. In 2009, he wrote an acclaimed text on strategy:
Gerry has extensive experience in consulting in business strategy and in corporate governance. With his strong interpersonal and leadership skills, Gerry brings a deep focus to his work, with an emphasis on effective solutions for the client. His Army experience trained him to be part of a team with a focus on achieving the mission. He now brings that focus to the team at GBCL Governance.
